RVK Poetics #17: From the heart’s core: writings by disabled women and marginalized genders

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of the Department of Disability Studies at the University of Iceland. As part of the anniversary celebrations, ÖBÍ réttindasamtök / The Icelandic Disability Alliance, in conjunction with Reykjavík Poetics, Tabú, the Neurodiverse Writers’ Space, and the Anfinn Project, are hosting a showcase of writing by disabled women and marginalized genders in Iceland.

Reykjavík Poetics is a community-oriented literary event series hosted in English.
Tabu is a feminist disability movement promoting social justice and fighting multiple oppression against disabled women and non-binary people.
Anfinn is a postdoctoral research project on neurodiverse creative spaces currently being conducted in the University of Iceland by Kathy D’Arcy: www.anfinn.hi.is
The Neurodiverse Writers’ Space is a community safe space initiative open to all neurodivergent writers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/463195249066938/
ÖBÍ réttindasamtök: ÖBÍ has 40 member associations and they are interest organizations of different disability groups.ÖBÍ's goal is for Icelandic society to become a society of equality and justice where all individuals, regardless of their physical and mental abilities, enjoy a decent standard of living and equal opportunities for an independent life and active social participation.
Entrance is free, and everyone is welcome.
Doors open at 19:30, and the readings start at 20:00. Ending 21:45.
