Writers O’Clock

Tuesday 28 May 2024. Wasabi Room, Hafnar Haus

To welcome three visiting authors—Ann Eriksson, Gary Geddes, and Miku Sophie Kühmel—we are organizing a coffee and cake get-together for all those interested in literature and writing. During the meeting, we will host short readings from:

Ann Eriksson, a Canadian biologist and writer, focuses on nature in her work, authoring five novels and three ecological literacy books for young readers, including the award-winning "Urgent Message from a Hot Planet," and is currently working on a novel about glacier loss while serving as the volunteer executive director of the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy.

Gary Geddes, author and editor of over 50 books across multiple genres and recipient of numerous literary awards, including the Commonwealth Poetry Prize, recently published several poetry collections and has taught at various universities. His work has been translated into seven languages and broadcast on CBC and BBC. He resides on Thetis Island and is en route to Poetry International in Rotterdam and the Genoa International Poetry Festival.

Leslie Schwartz is the author of two bestselling novels (one of which is a film) and a memoir. Her books have been published in 13 languages. She is also the founder of the artists' and writers' residency in the Westfjords, “List of Land.”

Martyna Daniel is a writer, painter, cinematographer, and co-founder of Listastofan, an artist-run space that operated between 2015 and 2019 in Reykjavík. Martyna is currently working on her debut novel, “I Spin”.

Miku Sophie Kühmel is a writer and podcast producer from Germany. Her debut novel, KINTSUGI, was shortlisted for the German Book Prize in 2019, and her second novel, TRISKELE, was published in 2022. Miku is currently working on a new novel and her first stage play.

Free entrance. All are welcome.
The event is hosted in English.
